The heating pad has great features. Heat acts against overexertion of muscles caused by stress, depression or chronic diseases. You can apply the heated pillow when falling asleep, after sports, during relaxation, difficulty falling asleep or on the bronchi and frontal sinuses. It relaxes the muscles and gets the blood flowing.
With our set, you don't have to buy extra material and look for filler. According to the instructions, even a complete beginner can sew a pillow. Don't you believe? See for yourself!

We have guides for both beginners and advanced users, including alternative options such as aromatherapy pillows, magnetic therapy pillows, and massage ball pillows. Sew your own heating pad and enjoy pleasant warmth and relaxation!

What will you need?

We have put together a set for you, where you will find the necessary amount of material to make one heating pad:
- wheat (if you like it, you can add dried lavender to the wheat, the pillow will smell beautifully when heated)
- cotton canvas on the inner pocket
- patterned cotton fabric for a washable cover

How to sew a heating pad:

We take out the individual parts from the package. We'll start with the inner coating that the wheat will go into. Fold the white canvas in half, sew one short and one long side (embroider an L shape). Turn it inside out and mark 15 cm from each edge with soapy chalk .

We divide the wheat into three equal parts, we found it useful to use three glasses for better handling. Pour the contents of the first glass into the sewn pocket and sew the first part. We repeat the same with the second and third glasses. We close the pocket with the last seam and thus have the inner part of the heating bag ready.

Now we just have to finish the cover and we're done. We use patterned cotton for the cover, we have prepared 4 color variants for you in the sets, from which everyone can choose. We clean the long edges with a double fold, then we fold the edges to the center and mark approx. 15 cm from each edge with soap chalk and sew to create a pocket in the middle for inserting a bag of wheat.

As the last step, we sew the sides together, turn it inside out, insert the inner pocket with the wheat, and the heating pad is ready.

The easiest way to heat the pillow is in the microwave at a power of 600W and heat it for one minute. Some people prefer warmer, others colder. Over time, you will figure out which warm-up suits you best. The outer coating can be easily removed, so the maintenance of the bag is really simple. We recommend washing the outer cover at a maximum of 40 degrees.

Whether you decide to sew a heating bag yourself or give a set to make it as a gift, we believe that you will make the recipient happy!

Different variants of the heating pad

Aromatherapy heating pad

This heating pad contains a pocket for essential oils or dried herbs that are released when heated. The aromatherapy heating pad is ideal for those who enjoy soothing and relaxing scents.

Method:

  1. Sew the basic heating pad according to the instructions.
  2. Sew a small pocket of approx. 5x5 cm from cotton or linen material.
  3. Fill the pouch with dried herbs (such as lavender) or a few drops of essential oil.
  4. Sew the pocket to the inside of the outer pillow cover.
  5. Cover the pouch with an inner liner to prevent direct contact with the wheat.

Heating pad with magnetic therapy

Magnetic therapy is an alternative treatment method that uses magnetic fields to treat pain and inflammation. By adding small magnets to your heating pad, you can create a combination therapy tool.

Method:

  1. Sew the basic heating pad according to the instructions.
  2. Buy small strong magnets (eg neodymium magnets).
  3. Insert the magnets into the individual wheat chambers. Make sure they are secured enough so they don't move.
  4. Close the pad and make sure that the magnets are not in direct contact with the skin when using.

Heating pad with massage balls

This version of the heating pad contains small massage balls that help release tension in the muscles on which the pad is used.

Method:

  1. Sew the basic heating pad according to the instructions.
  2. Purchase small massage balls (e.g. plastic or rubber) suitable for use in a pillow.
  3. Insert the massage balls into the individual chambers with wheat. Make sure they are evenly spaced.
  4. Close the cushion and when using it, make sure that the massage balls are in direct contact with the skin, but do not exert unpleasant pressure.

Cooling pad

A cooling pad can be useful for reducing swelling or pain caused by inflammation. This variant of the heating pad can be used as a regular heating pad or a cooling pad if you let it cool in the freezer.

Method:

  1. Sew the basic heating pad according to the instructions.
  2. Use the pad as a cooling pad by placing it in a plastic bag and chilling it in the freezer for at least an hour.
  3. Before use, remove the pillow from the freezer, check the temperature and, if necessary, wrap it in a towel so that contact with the skin is pleasant.

With these options, you can create a heating pad that will suit your individual needs. You can also combine different elements from multiple variants into one pad, for example by adding an aromatherapy pouch to a cooling pad. Do not forget to follow the safety instructions and proceed with caution during production.

An original way to improve the heating pad

When creating a heating pad, you can use leftover fabrics and use them to create original accessories and details that will increase the usability and comfort of using the pad. Here are some ideas on how to achieve this.

  1. Additional pockets for herbs or essential oils - you can add small pockets to the pillow to store herbs or essential oils. This will ensure that when the pillow is heated, a pleasant aroma will be released, which will increase the relaxing effect.

  2. Sewn-in elastic band for easier holding of the pillow - sew an elastic band from strong elastic material that you attach to the back of the pillow. This ensures that you can attach the pillow to your body and enjoy its warmth without having to constantly hold it.

  3. Personal appearance of the pillow - create an original cover for your pillow that will match the personality of the recipient. You can use different fabrics, patterns, prints or applications. Such a pillow will be not only useful, but also stylish and unique.

  4. Patches or applications - if you have fabric scraps with a print or pattern, you can use them to create patches or applications, which you then attach to the surface of the pillow. Such a detail will give the pillow an original look.

  5. Loop for hanging - you can use leftover fabric to create a loop for hanging the pillow. Sew a ribbon on one of the corners of the cushion, which will facilitate its storage and at the same time serve as a decorative element.

Use these ideas to create an original and unique heating pad that will be not only practical but also aesthetically appealing. This will ensure that your gift will have a special character and that the recipient will love it.

What can be used to sew a heating pad

Heating pads can also be made from different materials, which can affect their properties, texture and overall appearance. In this article, we will look at several variants of heating pads with different fabric materials that can be suitable for different situations, occasions and benefits.

1. Heating pad made of soft and light materials

Materials such as cotton , fleece or flannel are ideal for light and soft heating pads. These pads are suitable for children, the elderly or people with sensitive skin who prefer a softer touch. Soft and light materials also contribute to the feeling of comfort and relaxation.

2. Heating pad made of stronger materials

Materials such as canvas or heavy cotton are suitable for more complex variants of the heating pad, which require greater resistance and strength. These pads are suitable for people who are looking for more support or need to heat larger parts of the body. Stronger materials also improve the long-term durability of the heating pad.

3. Heating pad with luxurious materials

If you are looking for a heating pad that is suitable for special occasions or as a luxury gift, you can consider using materials such as silk , velvet or brocade. These materials add aesthetic value and a sense of luxury. Luxury heating pads can be suitable for relaxation procedures in the wellness area, as a gift for a loved one or as part of interior decoration.
