For the dress you need:

Charlotte wrap dress

I found inspiration in the J. Crew frill dress. When I saw the red muslin dress, I couldn't resist and had to make the same one!

A few things have changed and I would like to present them to you so that you can sew the same dress yourself at home. All the instructions for choosing Charlotte's dress are clear and easy, but there are a few things to watch out for. Let's eat them together.

Choosing the Charlotte Dress Short was an obvious choice, but it took a few changes to make the dress look exactly how I wanted it to: bigger ruffles, longer tie waist belt, longer bottom length and shorter sleeves.

I haven't changed much from the original look, but I love them more than the original version - for my "pear" body shape, they add volume to the top and balance out the wider hips.

On the cut, I marked in red all the changes from the original appearance. We will explain the instructions for changing the ruffles later.

1. Print the cut

First, you choose the cut, size, and follow Fiber Mood's instructions to print everything.

2. Dress length adjustment

The chosen Charlotte dress is too short for me (especially for cold winter days), so I slightly adjusted the length of the skirt. I added 20 cm on each side and created a new curve according to its shape.

3. Lining the bodice

The neckline of the dress is finished with a sewn-on frill and the piece is not lined on the reverse side. I personally prefer the clean look and lining of the entire parts, which looks very professional.

Muslin fabric is one of the thinner materials that can tend to show through, and a lined bodice for winter will be more suitable and warmer.

For lining the bodice we will need: 2x back part and 4x front part.

When lining, we proceed as usual: first we sew the sides together, take down the shoulder seams, sew the frill and sew the lining into the resulting neckline, and take down the side seams again and align the bodice on itself.

No overlock is needed to sew the bodice, and only a classic sewing machine will suffice.

4. Extended tie strap with bow

I love big bows. The bigger the better. What's more, I wanted to lengthen the tie belt so that it would be more variable and I could wrap it around the waist multiple times . Dress bows can now be tied on the back and front. Both sewn tapes are 1.3m .

5. Ruffles

Compared to the cut, I wanted to add larger ruffles to the dress at the neckline, sleeve and lower length of the dress.

I adjusted the length of each ruffle by multiplying its size by 1.5.

For example: the ruffle at the sleeve was 28 cm on the cut and after multiplying by 1.5, I cut a length of 42 cm . In order to fit the whole cut into 3 meters of fabric, I had to shorten some of the ruffles a little.

6. Sleeves

The sleeve has not changed much. I only shortened their length by 10 cm so that I could lengthen the frill.

The cotton muslin dress is incredibly comfortable and, thanks to the lining, warm even on cold winter days.

To emphasize the festive look, I sewed a scrunchie into the hair from small pieces of fabric.
