Instructions for a bag for carolers

Learn with us a simple procedure for sewing a bag for carolers, which is not only suitable for hiding small things after Easter, but has a wide range of uses for children and adults. You will need cotton fabric, string and thread.

We will need:

0.30 m of Easter cotton fabric

drawstring

colored sewing thread

Sewing procedure:

1. cut one large rectangle from the cotton fabric , which after folding in half will have the required size of the bag. Along the short sides, we add 1.5 cm for the foundation of the upper edge and the creation of a tunnel for threading the string through

Fold the 2nd rectangle of cotton fabric in half inside out and sew along the long sides for 0.5 cm. The edges of the seam can be cleaned with a zigzag stitch or sewn directly on an overlock

3. fold the upper edge of the bag inside out 2 times , stitch in the edge and leave a small hole on one side for stretching the cord

4. we measure the required piece of string , which we pass through the resulting tunnel and tie both ends at the end

Instructions for a simple backpack

The second guide that we bring you is a simple backpack with a practical drawstring so that the carol does not spill on the way. This backpack is suitable not only for children, but also for adults who like to collect eggs or sing carols.

For this project, we chose the same fabric as for the first treat bag tutorial, but this time we combined it with a more durable canvas fabric to create a sturdier backpack.

We will need:

0.50 m Easter cotton fabric

drawstring

colored sewing thread

Sewing procedure:

1. cut a rectangle from the cotton fabric , which after folding will have the required size of the backpack and add 2 cm to the upper edge for the tunnel

2. we clean the long side edges of the backpack and create a tunnel on the short sides in the same way as for a bag

3. we pass the drawstring through the created tunnel

4. we fold the rucksack in half and pin the edges of the cords to the bottom corner , which we attach and sew while sewing the side edge

5. sew the sides of the backpack up to the tunnel

If you want to create a more sophisticated version of this backpack, you can use a different fabric or combine different patterns and colors. You can also add more pockets to store small items or decorate the backpack with applications, embroidery or screen printing.
