Large travel bag for trips.

We all know it, we need to pack a few things that we write on a list so that we don't accidentally forget something. We prepare a list thoroughly, but when packing, a lot of other necessary little things are added to the list, without which we cannot leave or leave. After all, we never know exactly what we will need, so just in case, we have a lot of things with us that we won't even take out anyway.

After a long hesitation, we have things ready, but we are facing another problem and what to put all those things into. A suitcase would certainly be the most suitable and we would arrange things in it as an example, but a suitcase for everyday wear and sometimes even traveling is not exactly practical. That's why it's good to have a large travel bag over the shoulder at home, which you can take with you on vacation, sports, or in the city for larger purchases. How the bag will look like:

The shoulder bag is fastened with two straps with press studs. For better and more comfortable wearing, two ears of different lengths are sewn on the bag. The bag is made of two pieces with a lower bottom for better shape retention.

 

For the bag you will need:

0.9 m of fabric for the upper part of the bag - it can be, for example: denim , stretch cotton , cotton twill ...

0.8m of fabric for the inside of the bag – e.g.: cottons with patterns , plain cottons

4.6 m of strap – the strap can be purchased or it can be sewn to match the color of the bag from the selected fabric

2 threads - we can choose threads in the same color or contrast

2 pcs of print to turn on

 

From the fabric, we will cut the necessary parts of the bag with dimensions 40.5x84 cm, which we will need 2x and the bottom of the bag with dimensions 30x50 cm, which will be in the shape of an oval. For the inside of the bag, we will cut a part measuring 37x84 cm, which we will also need twice and a bottom measuring 30x52 cm. We have to add 1.5 cm for the seams to the cut parts. We cut the ear strap into 2 strips of the same length, we each choose the length of the ears to make it as comfortable as possible for us.

 

Sewing procedure:

1. we pin the cut parts of the bag face to face on the short sides and sew for the width of the added seam (1.5 cm), iron the resulting seams. For the inner parts, we leave an unsewn opening on one short side, which we will later use to turn the entire bag inside out

2. we sew the necessary bottom to the sewn parts of the bag, if we want the bag to hold its shape better, it is possible to reinforce the bottom

3. divide the bottom into quarters and mark the marks and the same on the sewn parts of the bag

4. put the marks face to face and pin the bottom to the bottom edge of the bag

5. sew the bottom to the bottom edge of the bag for the added seam (1.5 cm)

6. Place the parts sewn together facing each other and sew the top edge of the bag together

7. iron the sewn edge and turn the bag inside out

8. we fasten the edge of the bag and mark the location of the fastener

9. we will sew the necessary strips for the fastening, on which we will attach the buttons

10. attach the patent to the bag together with the second edge of the fastener strip, as shown in the picture

11. we stitch the edge of the bag in the chosen width with threads in the same color or with threads in a contrasting color

12. sew the ends of the prepared straps together and mark the division into short and long ears with chalk

13. mark the location of the straps on the bag, to which we attach the indicated place on the strap and sew

14. we attach the strap one more time in the upper part of the bag so that it holds better and does not tear off

15. pin the opening in the lining and sew by machine or by hand

 

We should have the bag sewn and now we just have to go somewhere!!!
