What material is ideal for swimwear?

The ideal material for a swimsuit is, of course, a stronger swimsuit with or without a shine. Shine is not the only thing that swimwear can differ from one another. An important feature is the UV protection factor UPF 50 , which does not allow more than 98% of the sun's rays to reach the skin and is comparable to a sunscreen with a factor of 50.

Protection from the sun is important, but we don't have to worry about a functional knitwear that doesn't show through when stretched, doesn't wrinkle, dries quickly and doesn't create unwanted pilling.

For the swimsuit we will need:

0.6 m of swimwear or stronger functional knitwear

1 pc of sewing thread

1.2 m of elastic band

And what is the best? We have prepared sets for you and you don't have to look for fabric, thread and even a cut that is in size 32-54 . In the set you will find everything you need to start sewing. You can find all sets in the category - Swimwear sets .

Procedure for sewing the lower part of the swimsuit:

  • Place all the parts on the swimsuit, add 0.8 cm to the seam and cut out . We can cut the middle part either from swimwear or from a fine knit.
  • Place the front and back parts face to face on top of each other and sew on the sides . Sew the bottom part of the panties together with the hips in one step.
  • We sew a strip of fabric intended for the waist , which we then fold in half and sew to the waist of the lower part of the swimsuit using an elastic stitch or overlock . A strip made of swimwear can also be replaced with flexible rubber suitable for sportswear.
  • We bend the central part along the short sides and sew it into the lower part of the swimsuit .
  • We sew an elastic strip around the perimeter of the pants from the reverse side , which we stretch slightly while sewing. Turn the hem of the pants inside out and stitch around the perimeter using an elastic stitch.

Procedure for sewing the upper part of the swimsuit:

  • Place all the parts on the swimsuit, add 0.8 cm to the seams and cut out .
  • Sew the central seam of the cup and use the prepared shorter strip to edge the inner part of the cup . If we want double cups, we cut the parts of the cups 4 times, put the sewn parts back to back and hem them together.
  • With the second longer strip of fabric, we edge the basket from the other side and fold the rest of the strip to make a hanger .
  • We measure the circumference under the breasts and cut a strip of fabric with an addition of 0.8 cm for the seams . Its length will be 2/3 of the circumference. A strip of fabric can also be cut from wide rubber suitable for sportswear.
  • Sew a strip of fabric or rubber using an elastic stitch .
  • On the upper edge of the strip , we will measure the location of the upper parts of the swimsuit and the location of the shoulder straps . Place the straps and upper parts of the swimsuit face to face to the stripe and sew with an elastic stitch . Turn inside out and bend the entire upper edge and stitch with an elastic stitch .
  • Fold the lower edge of the strip inside out and sew . On the lower edge of the strip in the place of the back part, it is possible to sew an elastic strip with a flexible stitch, which we gently stretch and the upper part of the swimsuit will hold better in place.

The swimsuit is ready and it's high time to pack it in a bag, throw in sunscreen, a towel and head to the nearest beach.
