Created9/27/2024

Autumn is here and with it cold mornings and dry weather. How about sewing an autumn hat and neckerchief? Believe me, it's easier than you think and there's nothing better than getting ready for the upcoming weather in style and staying nice and warm at the same time.

Now you might be thinking, “Why sew a hat and neckerchief at home when I can buy one at the store?” There is a simple answer to that. It's quick, cheap, simple, and all you need is an ordinary sewing machine. Add to that as a bonus the feeling of wearing something you made yourself. And in addition with a warm layer of soft fleece on the reverse side. Fleece is absolutely amazing - light, soft, pleasant to the touch and, above all, warms you up even in the unpleasant autumn wind.

So what do you say? You will join us in sewing a hat and a neckerchief. Just pull out the sewing machine, pick up the scissors and get to work.

0.30 m of cotton knit

0.30 m fleece

sewing needle, pin and thread

cap cut

The procedure for sewing a hat

Place the cotton knit and the fleece on top of each other face to face and outline the cut 4 times next to each other , so that we have 2 hat shapes next to each other and add 0.5 cm to the seams .

On both caps , fold the seams together and sew .

We fold the cap in half face to face and sew it around the perimeter . On fleece hats, we leave a small unsewn hole in the side for turning the hat .

Place both caps face to face and sew them together at the bottom. After sewing the cap through the hole left , turn it inside out and sew the hole in the hand .

Adjust the cap and decoratively sew both layers together according to the mark in the cut.

Procedure for sewing a neckband

We will cut a strip of 50-60 cm in size from the cotton knit and fleece , which will be 20-30 cm high . The size of the neckband depends on the circumference of the head and how much we want the neckband to fit the neck.

Place both pieces of fabric face to face on top of each other and sew along the long sides .

Turn the neckband inside out and place both ends face to face and gradually pin around. When sewing , we leave a small opening for turning, which we then sew by hand or on a machine .

You see, just pick up a piece of cotton knit, some fleece and you're done in one afternoon! It was nothing difficult, and you can still choose fabrics exactly according to your taste.
