Spring is in full swing here and summer is slowly knocking on our door. So it's high time to expand your wardrobe with new summer items, and dresses definitely won't get lost in it.
In today's tutorial, we will sew just one that will be suitable not only for the city, the office, but also for social events or the theater due to its cut .
The dress will be made of patterned stretch cotton and we have chosen a new item on the e-shop website – Cotton with a pattern of large flowers in black or blue . The dress has a simple cut to the neck with short sleeves, fastened with a zipper located in the middle of the back with a length to the knees. The front part is fitted with gussets from the waist towards the breasts. A slit can be sewn on the back for better movement in the dress.
For a ± 104 cm long dress we will need:
cut no. 10, which you can find in Stitched by you
1.3-1.4 m of cotton patterned fabric
60 cm zipper
sticky cravings
2 pcs of thread
Method:
we place the pulled cut on the pre-precipitated fabric , which is folded face to face
trace the cut on the fabric and add to the seams
we cut out the necessary front, back parts and sleeves
first we sew the pleats on the front part of the dress, which we fold face to face on top of each other
iron the sewn seams towards the center of the front part
in the next step, we sew the middle of the back part to indicate the slit for the zipper
we clean the stitched seam and iron it towards the back neckline (this gives us a pre-ironed slit for the zipper)
we insert a zipper into the resulting slit on the zipper, which we fasten and sew either on a machine or by hand. Carefully iron the sewn zi on the reverse side of the fabric
we place the back and front parts face to face on top of each other at the place of the shoulder strap and sew them together. We clean up the resulting seams and iron them to the back part
in the next step, we will sew the side seams of the front and back parts. Place the front and back parts of the dress face to face and pin them together. We sew the prepared and pinned side parts together and clean the resulting seams and iron them towards the back part
after sewing the dress, we will prepare the sleeves, which we will sew. First, we fold the sleeve face to face and sew them together at the sleeve seam and iron the resulting seam towards the back sleeve
we pin the prepared sleeves into the armholes of the unstitched dress and can help pin them on. Loosen the sleeve a little at the sleeve head for greater mobility
sew the sleeve with the sleeve head together and clean the resulting seam
we put the dress on and check whether the length of the dress, the sleeves and the shape of the neckline suit us. Alternatively, we can adjust the length of the dress or the neckline
if we are satisfied like this, we will clean the neckline
according to the shape of the neckline, we will cut the pads, which will be approx. 6 cm wide and glued
pin the side of the lining to the side of the neckline of the dress and sew together
clean the other edge of the lining and the edges of the zipper
we carefully cut the resulting seam so that the underskirt can rotate better and remove the outlet at the neckline of the dress
we iron the seam and turn the lining inside out and take out the welt, which we fasten and sew.
We will lift the edges of the lining at the zipper and hand sew to the zipper tab
clean the lower edges of the sleeves and the length of the dress and fold them to the back of the parts
sew the sleeve and length tabs in any width and iron the dress
We have new clothes made, and now all we need is for summer to start as soon as possible and for us to wear them as soon as possible.
